In the Fall we read Turn Homeward, Hannalee by Patricia Beatty.  It is a historical fiction novel that actually begins right here in Roswell, Georgia.  We loved reading about Hannalee's adventures during the time of the Civil War.  It also fit perfectly with our Civil War social studies unit.   At the end of the unit our wonderful parents made all sorts of foods for us to taste based on the foods that were mentioned in Turn Homeward, Hannalee.  Many of the foods were delicious, and others... well, see the reactions for yourself!
